PETTI - TOMATO AT THE CENTRE: TRANSPARENCY MAKES THE DIFFERENCE; FROM THE FRESH TOMATO SUPPLY CHAIN TO THE NO-LABEL-LOOK DESIGN AND THE CHARACTERISTIC CUSTOMISATION OF THE PACKAGING.

Packlab - PETTI - TOMATO AT THE CENTRE: TRANSPARENCY MAKES THE DIFFERENCE; FROM THE FRESH TOMATO SUPPLY CHAIN TO THE NO-LABEL-LOOK DESIGN AND THE CHARACTERISTIC CUSTOMISATION OF THE PACKAGING.

THE GRUPPO PETTI CONSERVE, a leader in the production of tomato-based sauces since 1925, is now led by entrepreneurs Antonio and Pasquale Petti. Passion, tradition and family values are the foundation of almost a century of innovation and processing that constitute the history of this all-Italian company, which makes the difference at an international level. About 70% of production is exported all over the world.

There are four locations, including three in Italy, (the first company, Antonio Petti fu Pasquale S.p.A. was founded in 1925 in Nocera Superiore, then ITALIAN FOOD S.p.A. and Compagnia Generale Agroindustriale S.p.A. were formed) and one in Africa (Conserveria Africana Ltd.). The Italian plants have a total of 40 production lines and are diversified in processing tomatoes 100% Italian origin, from Tuscany, Puglia and Campania. Products include tomato sauce (extra fine, rustic etc.), chopped, diced, finely chopped and peeled tomato and tomato concentrate.

ITALIAN FOOD S.p.A., the flagship of the GROUP and led by Pasquale Petti, handles the processing of fresh Tuscan tomatoes and the subsequent marketing of PETTI products and their mass distribution for both the Italian and European markets.

In 2014, the Tuscan plant, ITALIAN FOOD S.p.A., based in Venturina Terme (LI), a long-time P.E. Labellers client, reaffirmed its confidence in Packlab (a P.E. group subsidiary) labelling systems specialising in the application of self-adhesive labels, by buying the second WING model linear labelling machine with a non-stop system for the glass jar and glass bottle line, able to work with cylindrical formats from 270ml to 720ml with the application of transparent, self-adhesive, semi-wrap-around labels. Unlike the first linear labelling machine purchased in 2013, which operates at 10,000 bph, the second machine, also installed at the Italian Food S.p.A. plant, has a productivity of 15,000 bph with the non-stop system. The Gruppo Petti turned to Packlab in order to guarantee packaging of the highest quality, in line with the positioning of their premium product on the market.

A particular feature that distinguishes the Gruppo Petti is the company's philosophy and slogan, which is based on the principle of the "Tomato at the centre" and therefore contrary to the vast majority of preserved food manufacturers. The labels that are applied on the glass lines are transparent to provide the no-label-look effect; not to hide the product but rather to make it fully visible in terms of colour and texture. The transparency policy of the Gruppo Petti guarantees the authenticity and quality of its tomatoes; the entire production chain is constantly checked and certified at every step: from planting to harvesting, to production and packaging, for a company whose turnover exceeded 200 million euros in 2013.
